Tony is much loved and will always be remembered. A dedicated family man, husband, father and grandfather, that helped so many people in every way possible, from the pupils he taught at Dene's High School and East Norfolk 6th Form college, to the resurrection and accounts of the Lydia Eva - a beautiful, long-lost coal-fired steam boat.

He had a love of cars, especially Jaguars and more recently Mercedes, becoming the general secretary of the Jaguar Drivers Club, spending as much time under the bonnet as he did driving the car.

Another passion were boats, he would love to take trips on the Broads and sometimes more adventurously abroad. This love of boats drove him to become treasurer at the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club and also served on the management and estates committees. Please see their website for a very kind acknowledgement of Tony's passing.

In his later years Tony would always light up when his grandson, Leo, would visit and any time being with the family dog, Tallulah.

A life long member of the NASUWT, reaching president of Birmingham and Lowestoft branches, and often supported teachers in any way he was able. He was the teacher representative on the Governing body at both the educational establishments he taught.

In more recent times, this generosity and kindheartedness led him to work with Help the Aged, raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and he held East Anglian Children's hospice close to his heart, for which he was a regular benefactor.

Please see the fundraising page if you would like to further help him raise money for this excellent charity.

Other tributes

Richard Ashton has kindly remembered one of Tony's motoring rallys:
On this occasion your father was acting as navigator on the classic sports car rally.
I am not quite sure which of us it was who didn't know left from right and so in order to complete the course we decided on;?????

"Too YOU for Right and Too ME for left". Of course straight on was dead easy and as long as we could remember who was ME and who was YOU we couldn't go wrong.
A memorable happy day AND we completed the course. An honour to be with such a wonderful man with a great sense of humour. A treasured memory.
Richard and Cynthia
PS I enclosed the other  pic as Tony was not easily recognised in the action photo of us seeing off some modern stuff  and cunningly disguised as a ww1 pilot.!!!
